Folder structure

The folder structure is organized in sites and jobs.

All files belonging to a specific job - including GFD4 - are stored in a dedicated folder named after the job.

The site folder also includes specific folders for imported and exported data, external references and code lists.

In old site structure, all job files are directly within the site folder. Site created with latest software version have instead the new structure.
File extensions

*.GFD4: Every job is saved in a file with *.GFD4 extension.

*.GFD4_BAK: When opening a job, a copy is created automatically with *.GFD4_BAK extension.

*.RAW: When closing a job, the RAW file is created with *.RAW extension; The RAW file is a text file reporting all essential data of the job: topographic points and measures. The RAW file can be used by third-party software to import data.

<name of the job>_IMG: Sketches linked to points or to the measurement fieldbook are saved in a sub-folder of the job folder. The name of the sub-folder is <name of the job>_IMG.
Conversion of the X-PAD Survey 3 files

Jobs created with X-PAD Survey 3, the previous version of X-PAD, are shown in the work list with the icon

Jobs created with X-PAD Survey 3 must be converted before opening.

The conversion keeps the original job and creates a copy of the job in the new format.

Click Job.
-
Click New/Open job.

Select the job file to convert.

Press Yes to execute the conversion.
